Teen killed in crash while walking on Highway 101 in Thousand Oaks

Authorities have identified the pedestrian killed in Thousand Oaks Friday night as a Los Angeles teenager, officials said.
The 17-year-old boy was walking between lanes on southbound Highway 101 about 11:20 p.m. north of Conejo School Road when a vehicle struck the teen, officials said.
California Highway Patrol and emergency personnel responded to the scene after the driver called 911, officials said.
CHP said the teen was walking in an undetermined location between the lanes. The driver in a Honda vehicle was traveling southbound at about 65 mph when he noticed the teen and the driver tried to swerved in an attempt to avoid the crash but the right-front side of the vehicle struck the teen, officials said.
The driver pulled to the right shoulder and reported the crash, officials said.
The boy succumb to his injuries and was pronounced dead the scene, officials said.
The Ventura County Medical Examiner’s Office said an autopsy for the boy was scheduled for Monday.

This sounds like a suicide, and it's very sad. If you go on forums devoted to teenagers, they talk a lot about suicide and making it look like an accident.
Very sad that no one reached out to this kid, but I hope the drivers don't bear the guilt of this forever, it must be awful for them and (one would think) for the parents and family as well.
Teen mental health needs attention in all communities. We've boxed them in with narrow expectations and so many of them have a hard time making friends. They don't run around outside as many of us did as kids, and they suffer for it.
I just know that within internet teen communities, this is an oft-recommended method of suicide (to make it look like an accident).

We don't know that it was suicide. It also may have been drugs. Either way, it is very tragic. My heart goes out to his family.

Read the story about all the nice TOYS for Simi Police; there is minimal $$$ to help not only our troubled youth, families but ptsd of Veterans.
CHP: Hiding on the 23 to give $500 tickets NOT to HELP motorists stranded on frwy etc.
