I would like to put in my two cents regarding the Thousand Oaks Auto Mall sign. (VC Star)

Instead of the sign they propose, how about giving councilmembers Andy Fox, Dennis Gillette and Susan Murata, vice president of Silver Star Automotive Group and head of the Auto Mall Dealers’ Association, one of those twirly arrow signs and have them stand on the existing sign. That way they can be sure it would generate more attention to the auto mall. Why spend the money? That's the piece of the puzzle that has been missing. That's just my two-cents worth.

It seems to me that when a person embarks on a campaign to oust an employer/appointer, manager or anyone in a supervisory capacity, especially in a political campaign, expectations of success must dominate his mind.

The failure or success of the ouster always results in a parting of the association; either the boss leaves or the employee does. Authority or confidence will always be undermined by such an attempt.

I say this particular retribution should not be called revenge but the natural course of action in a civilized society. Otherwise, anarchy would result!

Al Adam, whom I do not know, attacked the character, ability, etc. of the City Council majority to properly govern. Regardless of his popularity at the polls in November, he was not elected! Regardless of his favor with his nominator, he attacked the overwhelming majority of the Council, all of whom have been elected.

Claudia Bill-de la Pena, whom I do know and respect and admire, is properly elected by the voters. Yet, regarding her nomination of Mr. Adam to a new term on the Planning Commission, we adhere to a nomination process by each council member that must be followed by ratification by the entire council.

If you apply this line of thought to any other human endeavor, the course of action is blatantly clear! The loser of the struggle is out! Any thought of Mr. Adam, after his election failure, of retaining his seat on a newly formed Planning Commission is self-deluding fantasy!

It is a basic principle of democracy that citizens have a right to run for political office with out fear of recrimination. When that recrimination occurs a civil right has been violated. As a former public servant you should know that the standard of care in government is different than the standard of care in the private sector. Or, as as you seem to describe it in the animal kingdom.
